COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Nine Head Start centers operated by the Central Kentucky Community Action Council in Radcliff and Elizabethtown will remain open after Nov. 1 to ensure continued early childhood education for local families. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ ECTC is hosting a Halloween trick-or-treat event on October 30 for local families; the community college plans to offer safe treats + fun activities. The News-Enterprise
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Hardin County Schools Calendar Committee is asking for public input on forming the new 2026-27 school calendar—community members can share their ideas as the committee plans the schedule—and will use the feedback to guide its final decisions. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ Elizabethtown Community and Technical College began phase one of its $60.5 million renovation for the Occupational Technical Building with a beam signing ceremony Monday afternoon, updating facilities built in 1966, 1975, and 1985. The project will finish phase one by December and give students a 21st century training environment — a boost for local workforce development. Quicksie 98.3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, SNAP will run out of money on Nov 1 and over 550,000 Kentucky recipients may miss food benefits, according to Gov. Andy Beshear. State agencies are preparing emergency measures with food pantries while Beshear and other officials sue the USDA for withholding funds. WKYU-FM
- ➤ Hardin County residents and Fiscal Court members met at the Hardin County Government Building to support full-time EMS in White Mills + every seat was filled + the strong backing may lead officials to consider the proposal further. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ Elizabethtown’s fire department is expanding to add new fire trucks and hire more personnel as the city grows. Officials said the move will improve response times for emergencies and better protect residents. The News-Enterprise
