COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new playground is planned in Elizabethtown to help bring children together and offer them a safe space to play — cool, damp weather set a quiet scene as birds sang.  The News-Enterprise
  • The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Kentucky Chapter will host its 23rd Annual Spring Fling on May 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hardin Post 113 on Ring Road in Elizabethtown to raise funds for local veterans—featuring over 25 vendors, a KSP-escorted motorcycle ride, a custom bike show, food trucks and more.  Quicksie 98.3

CRIME NEWS

  • The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office warned residents that several area people reported scam texts claiming to be from Chase Bank and saying there is a pending payment or account problem—texts designed to steal personal and banking information, so they advised not to click any links.  Quicksie 98.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Andy Beshear and Kentucky State Police said 33 new trooper cadets finished 24 weeks of training that began on November 10—some earned awards for leadership and did well in class.  K105
  • Elizabethtown drivers on U.S. 62 near Dixie Highway will see lane changes as part of a road diet to improve downtown safety—restriping will begin soon to the west and east of U.S. 31W.  The News-Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • UofL Health broke ground on its new Brown Cancer Center in Shepherdsville near I-65 to bring vital cancer care closer to rural communities. The $25 million facility will open in late 2026 and include 16 dual-purpose rooms—exams and infusions, research labs, clinical trial rooms, and on-site labs—to ease long commutes for patients like Elizabethtown resident Shirley Hatfield.  WLKY
