Nelson County High School honored alum Technical Sgt. Ashley B.
Pruitt from Bardstown, who died on March 12 during a KC-135 refueling mission in Iraq as part of Operation Epic Fury; the school and her former AFJROTC instructor offered condolences to her family (a loss felt locally).
Hardin County Public Library Director Laurel Tabaka was named Librarian of the Year at the state library association conference.
She was honored for leading a $3.8 million renovation, launching programs for veterans, and expanding services (including public computers) for the community.

Overnight storms in Hardin County caused trees to fall and barns to collapse.
