Ford Motor Co. said it will convert its Glendale plant in Hardin County into an energy storage business + the plan will result in layoffs of about 1,500 workers.
The changes are set to boost the company’s energy operations in Kentucky.
Ford announced Monday it will take sole ownership of the BlueOval SK Battery Plant near Glendale — laying off over 1,500 workers and investing $2B to retool it for Energy Storage System Batteries with plans to create 2,100 new jobs during an 18-month transition.
