COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Elizabethtown will host its final mobile food pantry event of the year at Freeman Lake Park this Saturday with food available from 9 a.m. until noon or until supplies run out, and residents should enter through the Freeman Lake Park Road entrance—located closest to Planet Fitness.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Elizabethtown is set to celebrate the holidays with events including Christmas in the Park at Freeman Lake Park starting November 26 from 6 to 11 p.m. — the park will show over 115 displays from city and local partners. The Light-Up E-Town Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is scheduled for December 5 at 7 p.m. — Santa will also appear at additional Downtown events.  Quicksie 98.3
  • ECTC Culinary Arts Club members are preparing holiday meals that include apple cranberry pie with orange zest, pecan and pumpkin pies, and golden brown turkeys — kept warm in restaurant-grade warmers — to thank local service members, and the meals will be served during upcoming holiday celebrations.  The News-Enterprise

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Small Business Administration is helping local business owners affected by the UPS plane crash by offering low-interest loans up to $2 million and sending representatives to the Community Resource Center in Elizabethtown—business owners can call the city's crash resource hotline at 502-473-5271 to set an appointment and have 60 days to accept a loan once offered, with applications accepted through August.  WLKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Humana Foundation released a report that finds 12% of Kentucky seniors are food insecure—above the national average of 9.2%—and many also battle diabetes and depression. The report urges state and community leaders to boost SNAP outreach and fund programs that help seniors get nutritious food.  K105

  • Elizabethtown Sports Park was ranked among the nation's sportiest and continues to host weekend pickup games and park runs— drawing local residents together for active play.  The News-Enterprise
