COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Johnson family will host their fourth annual Thanksgiving breakfast at Vine Grove City Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving, offering free food to all guests. The tradition began when the family fed cadets, soldiers, and community members at Fort Knox, and those who want to volunteer or donate can call Jennifer Banks (270-304-5101).  Quicksie 98.3
  • Thursday evening, Qdoba at 1570 North Dixie Highway hosted a Shop with a Cop fundraiser to support nearly 300 Hardin County children by donating 25% of all sales between 4 & 8 p.m., while donations were accepted at the Elizabethtown Police Department at 300 South Mulberry Street. EPD officials said the program provided essential clothing and a special toy for children and offered a tax-deductible benefit to local donors.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Kentucky Department of Education released report cards for every school using a 1-to-5 color scale based on test scores, school safety, graduation rates, and college readiness. In the local WLKY region, JCPS earned an orange rating with a score of 2, eight school districts received blue ratings, and only Trimble County’s elementary schools earned red — officials will provide intensive support to improve the lowest-performing schools.  WLKY
  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has been named a top 200 community college and announced new student success rates that show long-term growth in graduation, retention, and course completion — the update reflects the school’s ongoing efforts to boost academic outcomes.  The News-Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky State Police is urging locals to donate non-perishable food items in the annual Cram the Cruiser drive, which runs until December 5 to help feed neighbors during the holidays. Post 4 in Elizabethtown will host a signature event on December 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—donations may be dropped off at 954 Ponder Drive or at one of 15 other post locations.  K105
