COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Kentucky woman who went viral on TikTok by posing as a new mother called Heritage Hope Church of God in Somerset for baby formula, and pastor Johnny Dunbar quickly stepped in to help her. Her story boosted donations and brought many people back to church—including some who had not attended in years—and it drew attention from around the world.  WLKY
  • In a record year, CKCF's Granted program awarded $185,908 to nonprofits—making it the highest funding total in its five-year history.  The News-Enterprise
  • Elizabethtown is hosting its second mobile food pantry event today at Sports Park — food will be distributed starting at noon until supplies run out. Mayor Jeff Gregory said the drive-through event, organized with Feeding America and Kentucky’s Heartland, aims to feed up to 1,000 households over the next three weeks — no ID is needed.  Quicksie 98.3
  • The Olive Branch Fund invites the public to its Adopt-a-Fraser event on November 28 and 29 at Village Green Landscaping, where decorated trees will be auctioned and visitors can enjoy a silent auction, Santa, music, food trucks, and vendors—to help families ease high adoption costs.   • The Garden Club of Elizabethtown announced an extra shopping day for its annual holiday bazaar. Club members began busy preparations before November plus the added day will give local shoppers another chance to find holiday gifts.  The News-Enterprise

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new provision added by Sen. Mitch McConnell to the federal spending bill limits THC in hemp products to 0.4 milligrams per package, which Kentucky hemp businesses say will ban nearly all current items. Affected owners plan press conferences in Louisville and Lexington tomorrow to seek changes & warn that the rule could threaten local jobs.  WLKY
  • Clark—representing E'town Tourism—was elected to join the Kentucky Travel Industry Association board for 2026 and will start his term next year.  The News-Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gordon Food Services donated a 2016 Volvo day cab truck to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s diesel technology program, marking its second donation following a previous gift of a tow dolly and two trailers (reinforcing a long-standing partnership). Diesel Program Coordinator Joe Valora said the truck helped students train on industry-specific equipment (boosting their readiness for skilled work).  K105

  • The government shutdown ended yesterday but local nonprofits and food banks expect ongoing demand for food assistance as SNAP benefits remain partially delayed.
