COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Members of Heels Together, a women-led initiative of the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, met Tuesday evening at their annual investors banquet to review last year’s impact and listen to pitches from 2025 grant finalists. Grant winners were Feeding America who received 7500 dollars, Helping Hand of Hope with 10,000 dollars and PURE Inc. with 12,000 dollars—each adding to an endowment that has grown past 600000 dollars.  Quicksie 98.3
  • At the 11th annual Heels Together Investors’ Banquet, over $29,500 was awarded to three local groups that support women and girls initiatives—money that will help fund programs aimed at increasing local resources for these efforts. The awards will boost community efforts to improve services and opportunities for women and girls.  The News-Enterprise

  • Hardwood companies in Kentucky are asking the federal government for tariff relief as falling lumber prices and sluggish home construction hurt their businesses. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Earlier Wednesday morning, about two dozen sixth- and seventh-graders at Saint James Catholic School in Elizabethtown brought saints to life in a living wax museum activity that let them learn about ordinary people who showed strong faith—an assignment that connected their names and actions to the lives of real saints like Gianna Beretta Molla.  WLKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On October 24, the Court of Appeals vacated Hardin Circuit Judge Larry Ashlock’s order denying CPV Stonecrop Solar LLC’s petition for a declaration of rights—affecting the company’s plan to develop an 82-megawatt solar farm and agrivoltaics operation on 640 acres of Hardin County land. The court stated it is within jurisdiction to hold evidentiary hearings on whether the project counts as an agricultural use—and Hardin County Planning and Zoning Commission has 30 days to seek a Kentucky Supreme Court review.  Quicksie 98.3
  • The Lincoln Trail Area Development District began excavation work for its new building after the board awarded a bid in October—officials said the project may include a YMCA and plans will be released soon.  The News-Enterprise

  • Tula, a 1½-year-old boxer/beagle mix weighing 40 pounds, and Leo, a 3-month-old grey kitten with green eyes are available for adoption this week at Hardin County Animal Shelter — located at 220 Peterson Drive — where visitors can see them Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.  Quicksie 98.3
