GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear updated the progress on the state’s medical cannabis program nearly 300 days after legalization, noting that next week inspectors will review the first processor and full license approvals—covering cultivation, processing, safety compliance, and dispensary. More than 15,000 Kentuckians hold medical marijuana cards and 500 practitioners are certified to prescribe as growers prepare their first harvest and labs stand ready to test, with hopes to have product by year-end. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The DEA partners with nearly 4,000 law enforcement agencies for the 29th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), where residents can safely drop off unused, expired, or extra prescription medications. Drop-off sites include the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office (with similar locations in Bardstown and Leitchfield) to help reduce the risk of drug misuse and accidental overdoses. Quicksie 98.3
