  • Freddy’s new restaurant in Elizabethtown will open Sunday and serve steakburgers + frozen custard treats to local diners.  The News-Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear joined Kingspan Group PLC leaders to announce that Tate will build its largest North American facility in Glasgow—a $61.2 million project that will create 400 full-time manufacturing jobs. The new 764,000-square-foot plant will be Tate’s first in Kentucky and will produce thermal management and airflow solutions.  K105
  • The LTADD Workforce team is working with Akebono employees in Elizabethtown to help them secure new jobs ahead of the planned plant closure — many workers may face layoffs soon.  The News-Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hardin County Schools, Elizabethtown Independent Schools and the Central Kentucky Community Foundation are urging families to register for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library — the program sends a free age-appropriate book every month to children from birth to age five and has 38 percent of eligible children participating.  Quicksie 98.3
  • The Kentucky Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission is accepting entries for the 2026 essay, visual arts, and poetry contests to honor Dr. King's legacy — the contests are open to Kentucky students and home schooled youth with submissions following the theme 'Equality for all, hope for tomorrow' due by December 12.  Quicksie 98.3

  • Today, the warm and dry weather holds with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s. A potent cold front will hit late Saturday—bringing rain, strong wind gusts, and heavy downpours into Sunday morning with cooler highs in the 60s.  WLKY

  • The government shutdown, now in its third week, is straining Fort Knox and hurting nearby businesses as The Gathering Bakery sees a 25% drop in sales while service members face pay delays—local food providers are offering free meals to help during these tough times.  WKYU-FM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown will turn purple on Oct. 25 as walkers gather for the Alzheimer’s Walk to support ending Alzheimer’s. Registration is still open for those planning to join this local event.  The News-Enterprise

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Sweet Victory, a 1 year old brindle hound weighing 67 pounds, and Ghost, a 4 year old black and white pittie weighing 53 pounds, are available for adoption at the Hardin County Animal Shelter in E-town. The shelter updated the rabies clinic and welcomes questions at (270 769 3428) or in person at 220 Peterson Drive from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday.  Quicksie 98.3
