COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Family Scholar House invites the community to support ECTC students and families with its fourth Thanksgiving Meal Drive—collected food will aid local families this holiday season. The event will help those in need through donated items as the drive continues.  The News-Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A firm from California plans to build Kentucky’s first privately funded uranium enrichment plant — a project aimed at boosting the country’s domestic uranium enrichment — with development expected to start soon.  WKYU-FM
  • Gov. Beshear and first lady Britainy Beshear will lead a delegation to the United Kingdom, France, and Ireland next week to meet with business leaders and trade officials and boost job growth in Kentucky—over 45 companies, including 16 with current operations employing 4,000 workers, are set to discuss projects that may bring 2,900 jobs and $3.5 billion in investment. The trip is planned to further Kentucky’s international business ties and enhance economic opportunities for local families.  K105

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Retired educators are launching Elizabethtown Latin School for the 2026-27 school year — the dining room of Sheila Larkin’s home now serves as the school office.  The News-Enterprise
  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College received a $1.3 million TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education to offer more academic and personal support at its Leitchfield and Springfield campuses — the funding will help low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities by expanding tutoring, mentoring, career counseling, and more. The grant will also fund new hires for a program director, a tutor at each campus, and an administrative assistant.  K105

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hardin County Sheriff's Office welcomed its first therapy dog today to join the department and help support community outreach—officials said the four-legged officer will be trained to assist in stressful situations.  The News-Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials say that COVID-19, flu, and RSV cases are very low right now but warn that virus season will ramp up, so residents must stay home if sick, wash hands, and cover coughs. Lincoln Trail District Health Department — offering about 15 adult vaccinations — requires phone appointments for residents in Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties.  Quicksie 98.3
