COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Hardin County Public Library’s Bookmobile will return to the road Wednesday after a short hiatus + resume serving local residents with mobile library services.  The News-Enterprise
  • At Creekside Auto on Monday, the David Bewley Memorial Pull looked bigger than ever with children’s bicycles and car batteries on display—showing a strong local turnout that honored David Bewley. The event brought the community together in a heartfelt tribute.  The News-Enterprise

CULTURE NEWS

  • At sunset in downtown Elizabethtown, 6,000 fans gathered to hear Eddie Montgomery perform a free concert closing the day-long Heartland Harvest Festival — marking the festival's final moments — as the crowd enjoyed local music.  The News-Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In August, unemployment rates dropped in the Lincoln Trail District as 119 counties showed lower numbers than last August. The state average fell to 4.3 percent from 5.3 percent while Hardin County declined to 4.6 percent from 5.9 percent in July—Grayson and Breckinridge had the highest rates and Washington County the lowest at 3.8 percent.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three educators—Lois Chandler, Julie Cowan, and Jennifer Fritsch—were chosen by a statewide committee to join the Louis B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame, which honors those with long and impactful teaching careers; the induction ceremony will be held at Western Kentucky University on November 7.  K105
  • On Monday morning, East Hardin Middle School welcomed sleepy-eyed students during the Rock Your School event—where movies were shown—with drums, horns, and cheering bands to energize them.  The News-Enterprise
  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College was awarded a $100K Legacy Foundation grant to build a STEM Lab that will offer hands-on learning for students — officials say the project will begin soon.  The News-Enterprise

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A rainy week brought some relief but the National Weather Service said most areas remain in either abnormally dry or moderate drought with parts of LaRue and Nelson counties in severe drought. Burn bans have been lifted in several counties except LaRue County — and mostly dry weather is forecast with tropical storms possibly bringing rain mid-week.  Quicksie 98.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Andy Beshear announced that Kentucky regained $17.8 million in federal funding to build electric vehicle charging stations after a challenge to a federal freeze, and the funds will expand charging infrastructure across the state in the coming months.  The News-Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new fundraiser event will help pay for spay and neuter surgeries as a low-cost clinic is set to open soon—local animals will receive affordable care. The event will support better animal health in the community.  The News-Enterprise
