Joel Willett, a military veteran and former CIA officer from Louisville, has entered the race for the U.S. Senate seat held by Mitch McConnell.
He announced his bid online on Wednesday and tied his family’s struggles, including his father’s death from the opioid crisis, to his desire to fight a political system that he says leaves working Kentuckians behind — positioning himself as an outsider willing to fight for the people.
