COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Amber from Pet Supplies Plus said the Dogust Fundraiser helped the Hardin County Animal Shelter win support, and the shelter will hold a rabies clinic soon. Community members can call 270-769-3428 or visit 220 Peterson Drive, Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.  Quicksie 98.3

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Leggett & Platt announced it will close its Georgetown Adjustable Bed plant due to difficult business conditions, and the closure will result in 122 job losses. The first round of layoffs is scheduled to begin around November 10 and will finish by the end of the first quarter.  K105

CULTURE NEWS

  • Oktoberfest returns to Fort Knox with new festival additions that celebrate German culture and traditions. Organizers said the event will offer special activities and traditional food—inviting locals to enjoy a festive community experience.  The News-Enterprise

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Economists said state government revenues will fall $305 million short of budgeted expectations—this 2% lower forecast made Tuesday shows the fiscal year that began July 1 faces a revenue gap.  The News-Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Radcliff City Council met Tuesday and approved flood ordinance and budget amendments to update state definitions while postponing the rezoning of 238 Cedar Oak Drive after Fort Knox objections & later approved a zoning change at 2787 Hill Street and a trash contract transfer to Republic Services, with a special meeting set for October 14. This meeting addressed compliance issues and property concerns raised by Fort Knox.  Quicksie 98.3
  • On Monday, a judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by state auditor Allison Ball against Gov. Beshear's administration over a funding dispute for a kinship caregiver law—designed to help relatives care for children who have suffered abuse. Ball said she will issue subpoenas to reveal program cost details while the governor plans to request the needed funds in his next budget proposal.  K105
  • KYTC is cutting long wait times at regional driver's licensing offices by hiring 125 contract employees, extending Saturday hours, and upgrading its Qmatic system + adding new vision screening machines that helped reduce walk-in wait times from 49 to 25 minutes and appointment wait times from 25 to 15 minutes. Officials said data from April to August show statewide averages now fall under 30 minutes.  WLKY
  • After the legislative session ended on March 28, hundreds of groups spent nearly $10M lobbying lawmakers from April through August. The monthly reports (from nearly 1,000 groups) show that businesses, hospitals, and trade groups spent on events and meetings to gain more influence.  WKYU-FM
  • Hardin County Government announced today that a well-known individual has been hired as its new communications officer—this appointment aims to strengthen government outreach in the county.  The News-Enterprise

  • Seven competitors from across the United States gathered at Fort Knox to vie for the U.S. Army Recruiting Division's Best Warrior title+ they will test their skills in a contest that highlights strength and teamwork.  The News-Enterprise
