- ➤ CASA of the Heartland received a $12,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children to fund volunteer training and resources that help give children a consistent voice in court and in the community. - ➤ Game wardens with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife executed 10 search warrants on September 12 as part of Operation River Raid—an investigation lasting seven months into illegal commercial catfish harvesting from Paducah to Ashland. Quicksie 98.3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During Monday’s meeting, Elizabethtown City Council held first readings on three ordinances for 2025 that keep the motor vehicle, watercraft, and franchise rates unchanged while lowering the real and personal property tax from 11 to 10.7 cents per $100 — Finance Director Jeff Hawkins said property taxes have not increased since 2012. The council also approved a $1,626,533 bid from Breckenridge Kitchen Equipment for concession equipment for the outdoor music venue project and will meet again on September 22. Quicksie 98.3
- ➤ Kentucky State Police Post 4 is joining Operation Clear Track—the largest rail safety initiative in the nation—to boost rail safety education for local residents. The News-Enterprise
