- ➤ Nearly 1,500 workers at BlueOval SK Battery Park in Hardin County will vote on joining the UAW on Aug. 26-27 amid concerns over safety and health risks—issues include toxic chemicals and inadequate protective gear that have fueled disputes with management. - ➤ A break from scorching heat continues through the weekend with dry skies expected today in Elizabethtown where temperatures will climb to the upper 80s and start in the 60s. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that the state approved $1.8M to fund workforce training for nearly 2,300 Kentuckians through the Bluegrass State Skills Corp.—the training will begin soon. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ During an August meeting, the committee noted that Kentucky’s SNAP program had a 3.7 percent payment error rate for 2025, which meets the threshold for full federal coverage into the 2028 fiscal year. The new policy from House Bill 1—also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—will use 2025 or 2026 error rates to set cost sharing if rates rise above six percent. K105
