- ➤ The City of Elizabethtown is hosting the Heartland Homecoming Parade this Saturday with over a hundred entries including floats, walkers, fans, and dignitaries. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at Public Square and follow a route north to Saint John Road under a theme that honors the city’s past and plans for its future—inviting everyone to join in. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ BlueOval SK began making electric vehicle batteries Tuesday morning at its Kentucky 1 plant in Glendale, where the batteries will power the Ford F-150 Lightning and E-Transit van as part of a $5.8 billion project. The launch comes one week ahead of a union vote on August 26-27 that will decide if workers join the United Auto Workers union. WKYU-FM

- ➤ Sentencing for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson convicted in the Crystal Rogers investigation was postponed to September 17 by Judge Charles Simms III—he cited Lawson’s serious health issues. Quicksie 98.3

- ➤ Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) earned its sixth year in the Metallica Scholars Initiative as the only Kentucky college, and a $3 million grant will support advanced manufacturing programs including $4,000 scholarships for local students. K105
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elizabethtown City Council approved four ordinances Monday that changed the zoning of North Main Street, approved annexation at 1331 Hayden School Road, and ordered the purchase of 111 Pear Orchard Road for corridor improvements. The council also awarded a $1,149,898 contract for American Legion Park improvements and held a swearing-in for two police officers—promoted to deputy chief and sergeant—with its next meeting set for August 25. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear announced Monday that bromazolam has been designated as a Schedule 1 controlled substance after it was linked to 48 fatal overdoses last year. The emergency action bans the drug from being sold in Kentucky+ gives law enforcement the power to arrest those who sell or possess it. K105
