- ➤ The Radcliff Police Department will host its second annual backpack giveaway Saturday at 220 Freedoms Way for Hardin County students (elementary through high school) starting at 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. or until supplies run out, with backpacks and supplies donated by local businesses, officers and Hope Temple Church of God. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fatal motorcycle accident occurred Monday at about 9:15 p.m. on the Western Kentucky Parkway when 57-year-old John Barnes of Upton lost control on a rain-slick road, left the roadway and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer— the truck driver was not injured. Quicksie 98.3
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lakewood Elementary School now has new leadership with Chase Cruse—formerly Central Hardin High School’s assistant principal—named principal. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville and his master’s degree and Rank I in Instructional Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, and he will lead the school when classes begin August 7. - ➤ Central Hardin High School is under new leadership today as Kim Case becomes principal, replacing Tim Isaacs who retired after 15 years. Case began her career at the school in 1997 and has served in various roles in Hardin County Schools — the new school term starts August 7. Quicksie 98.3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elizabethtown City Council met Monday where Parks and Rec director Seth Breitner said 280 summer campers attended the camp and the American Legion Park Pool had over 31,500 daily admissions. The council also discussed future projects like park facility upgrades and trail improvements as well as a new ethics ordinance for countywide consistency — the next meeting is on August 4.
