The Hardin County Animal Shelter is running its Dog Days of Summer special that lets all dogs 5 months old or older be adopted for $25 and is open Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Elizabethtown police are providing refurbished phones—some for 911-only calls and others offering up to 60 days of prepaid service—to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking who often lack communication, and they are asking residents to donate used phones for secure wiping and refurbishment.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has received a $1.6 million TRIO Student Support Services grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help 185 first-generation, low-income students with tutoring, counseling, and transfer support over five years.

The college will begin fall classes on August 18 and will use the funds to boost retention and graduation rates — a key goal of the program.
