EDUCATION NEWS

  • The EC3 construction program has helped local students prepare for careers in building trades—trade pathways have grown popular for offering hands-on training and job opportunities.  The News-Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction will begin next week on two new roundabouts at the U.S. 62 interchange with the bypass in Elizabethtown (built to make the road safer) (work scheduled to start as planned).  The News-Enterprise
  • Last week, lawmakers in the interim session held committee meetings to discuss issues such as KentuckyWired network disputes, contract reviews, and funding for public universities and agricultural projects. Officials also reviewed updates on health and safety measures while preparing recommendations for the upcoming January session + future actions.  K105

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross has set up several blood drives in the area — including one at the Pritchard Community Center in Elizabethtown on Friday, July 25 — because there is an urgent need for Type O blood. Donors who give blood by July 31 will receive a movie reward as local officials note that summer travel has led to fewer donations.  Quicksie 98.3
