COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pluto, a one-year-old black and white pit mix weighing 50 pounds, and Ranger, a one-year-old tan and white pittie with green eyes, are available for adoption at Hardin County Animal Shelter as part of the Dog Days of Summer special where dogs 5 months old or older cost only $25—residents can visit during Monday—Saturday hours from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at 220 Peterson Drive in E-town.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hardin County Schools announced that Dr. Melissa McDaniel is named principal at New Highland Elementary School—she replaces retired principal Chalis Packer and will lead the school as it begins the new school year on August 7.  Quicksie 98.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kentucky Attorney General's Office has secured $14.4 million from opioid manufacturers, with seven companies now barred from promoting high-dose opioids and Indivior agreeing to stop making opioid products for 10 years. Half of the funds will go to the state commission for opioid abatement and the rest to cities and counties to support prevention, treatment and recovery efforts — a move aimed at reducing opioid harm.  K105
