  • Daniel O’Dell and Tom Folsom from the American Legion Post 113 in Elizabethtown discussed the upcoming Be The One Suicide Prevention Walk scheduled for July 19—its focus is on raising awareness for suicide prevention.  Quicksie 98.3

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Just after noon on Friday, Elizabethtown police responded to a serious crash at the intersection (Patriot Parkway and Timber Lane) when an SUV turning left collided with a southbound sedan, resulting in a passenger dying at Baptist Health Hardin while both drivers were treated for minor injuries (the investigation is ongoing).  Quicksie 98.3

  • Bob, Carl and Jennifer Swope discussed plans for celebrating Bob Swope Ford’s 50th Anniversary on a podcast. They outlined upcoming events that will mark the milestone for the family-owned dealership — offering details on the celebration.  Quicksie 98.3

CULTURE NEWS

  • A public visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church, Crestwood Campus to honor Brad Rogers—an assistant band director at UofL who died last week while on a Kentucky Musicians Abroad tour in Europe.  WLKY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Indiana University Southeast in New Albany announced that beginning fall, full-time students who live in Nelson and Hardin counties will qualify for in-state tuition—undergraduates will pay about $7,716 annually while residents in other areas may receive a reduced rate.  WLKY
  • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College invites new and prospective students to its Open House Days at the Regional Postsecondary Center from 12 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday through July 29. The event offers campus tours at 2 and 4 p.m.—and it helps visitors register and learn about financial aid options as first classes begin on August 18.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Elizabethtown native Reese Larsen from John Hardin earned a spot to compete at the upcoming National DECA conference—she will represent our community at the event.  The News-Enterprise

  • Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said today that his office released free high-resolution aerial imagery of all 120 counties via the KyFromAbove Explorer website. The online tool will help first responders assess damage after disasters—supporting planning for economic and infrastructure projects across the state.  Quicksie 98.3

HEALTH NEWS

  • An artisan style half loaf bread from Lewis Bakery sold at Kroger and Walmart was recalled on July 10 for possible hazelnut exposure that could trigger severe allergic reactions — the recall covers six lot codes with a 12‑ounce package and an expiration date of July 13, and affected products can be returned for a full refund.  WLKY
