- ➤ FEMA has awarded nearly $81 million to help Kentucky households affected by three Presidential Major Disaster Declarations from severe weather and flooding. It approved over $52.5 million for February storms with applications closing May 25 — over $26.1 million for April storms with a July 25 deadline and more than $2.3 million for May storms with a July 23 deadline. - ➤ Work begins on the new roundabout at the intersection of Elizabethtown Road and William Thomason Byway as concrete pours are set for today and Monday — drivers must follow lane markings and consider alternate routes to avoid lengthy delays. K105
- ➤ Fort Knox Garrison officials announced today that the military base will sponsor its second motorcycle safety ride of 2025 on Friday morning—local riders are encouraged to attend and improve road safety. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ Local veterans questioned the denial of a zoning change for a proposed VA Medical Clinic because they fear it may limit their access to needed care + officials have not reversed the decision and plan to review the concerns. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is hosting the Mentor to Win contest to have experienced anglers guide new fishers until August 31—both must have a valid Kentucky fishing license and new anglers must not have bought one in the past three years. - ➤ As summer heat continues, residents are urged to watch for signs of heat exhaustion—such as heavy sweating and pale, clammy skin—and heatstroke, which shows a body temperature of 103° or higher with hot, red skin.
