Julie Raque Adams sponsored a new law that will take effect on Friday and makes sextortion a separate crime punishable as a misdemeanor or felony based on factors like threat level and victim age—convicted offenders may be added to the state sex offender registry. Schools must also now provide age-appropriate guidance to help students and parents report such crimes. K105
- ➤ Kentucky lawmakers have passed bills that add penalties for sexual extortion, ban cell phones in classrooms, and end DEI programs at public universities—laws that will take effect tomorrow. State leaders have also set up temporary meeting rooms for lawmakers during a $300 million Capitol renovation—projected to host sessions for the next three legislative cycles. WLKY
- ➤ At its second meeting this month Tuesday, Hardin County Fiscal Court approved an amendment to the county administrative code—removing restrictions on take-home vehicles and revising the social media policy—and later approved changes to personnel policies affecting county facility use by for-profit businesses.
