COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This week, Hardin County Animal Shelter is featuring two dogs seeking Furever homes: Roku, a 3-year-old brindle and white beagle weighing 46 pounds, and Ruben, a 1-year-old brindle hound mix with honey colored eyes. The dogs are available at 220 Peterson Drive in E-town (Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.), and questions can be directed to the shelter at 270-769-3428.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Those interested in the pageants should register soon for the Hardin County Community Fair & Horse Show, as the registration deadline draws near and the event is set for next month.  The News-Enterprise

BUSINESS NEWS

  • BlueOval SK External Affairs Director Keli McAlister said the EV market grew slower than expected — first quarter sales increased 11 percent, showing the market is emerging. At Tuesday's Hardin County Fiscal Court meeting, she said the Kentucky Two plant is complete — its interior remains empty after an April 27 fire caused by a pump shaft misalignment, and full production will begin in the second half of the year.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University launched a new initiative that will organize strike teams using research based education to boost disaster preparedness and recovery. The teams, made up of trained county agents+ staff, will help local communities after three weather events in 2025 led to Presidential major disaster declarations.  K105
  • Hardin County Schools launched a mobile classroom bus for preschool and kindergarten students in Radcliff to boost reading and writing skills. The bus debuted Thursday morning with a 'Where the Wild Things Are' theme and will visit additional stops in the future.  WLKY
  • ECTC's Pathfinder Academy offers courses in finances and manufacturing during the summer break—allowing local students to continue learning outside regular school hours.  The News-Enterprise

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Elizabethtown signed a Friendship City agreement with Seosan during a June luncheon at Phillips Grove—Mayor Jeff Gregory hosted Mayor Lee Wan-Seop and his delegation and called the event his proudest moment in office. He said the new agreement opens the door to future projects and reciprocal visits in business, education, culture and tourism.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Grayson County Jailer Jason Woosley was named Kentucky Jailer of the Year by his peers at the Kentucky Jailers Association Summer Conference. He said he is honored by the award and credited his 24 years of service and his 150-strong team for the facility’s success + his work has helped strengthen community partnerships.  K105
