CRIME NEWS

  • An Edmonson County man was fatally shot by an Allen County deputy during a domestic disturbance call at 4:30 Friday on Shockley Road—12 miles north of Scottsville as the Kentucky State Police investigate the incident that claimed the life of 42 year old Joshua R Stanka of Brownsville.  K105

EDUCATION NEWS

  • KIDS COUNT data show that in 2024 many Kentucky children lived in poverty and faced higher teen pregnancy and child death rates, along with declining academic scores from pandemic learning loss. Some gains were seen with more children having health insurance and on-time high school graduations — yet experts warn that lawmakers must soon tackle tough issues like safe gun storage and access to early education.  WKYU-FM
  • The Hardin County Public Library in Elizabethtown is running its 2025 Summer Reading Program themed 'Color Our World' with art sessions like Paint Like Monet on Mondays—families can pick up reading logs at the library at 100 Jim Owen Drive to win weekly art set prizes and be entered in a grand prize drawing as the program runs until July 26.  Quicksie 98.3

  • Radcliff Deputy Fire Marshal Tommy Crane advised residents to follow grill safety tips during summer cookouts. HEALTH NEWS

  • The Kentucky Department for Public Health and the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy are warning local residents not to use kratom and 7-hydroxymitragynine products because they can cause severe health effects — liver damage, seizures, addiction, and neonatal abstinence syndrome — and these products are not approved by the FDA.  K105
