🏘️ Community
Bridge of Hope gives families facing homelessness a safe place to turn—providing counseling, food aid and temporary shelter to help them avoid losing their homes.
United Way of Central Kentucky will host its second Skydive for Change fundraiser to support local community programs; residents will be encouraged to join the fundraising effort by skydiving.
The event is set to take place soon and aims to boost support for local initiatives.
🚨 Crime
Pedro Reyes, formerly of Elizabethtown, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison and two years of supervised release for engaging in a conspiracy to commit health care fraud—billing Medicare over $6 million for unnecessary durable medical equipment between February 2019 and April 2021.
🏛️ Government
Kentucky State Police Post 4 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints throughout June in the Post 4 area — including Hardin, Jefferson, Bullitt, Nelson, Meade, Breckinridge, LaRue and Grayson counties — to promote safe driving.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission said available 502 numbers will run out by the end of 2027 — current users keep their numbers while new ones will receive a new area code.
Residents held a public meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in Bardstown and can attend another meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Louisville — public feedback is being gathered.
