COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Elizabethtown Police Department mourned its K9 Zeus, a loyal officer who served faithfully and meant more than just a working partner. Officers say his loss has left a deep impact on the department.  The News-Enterprise
  • Christa Shouse ended her 14-year service as president and CEO of United Way of Central Kentucky this past Wednesday as she pursues her lifelong creative endeavors. Interim president Kirk Chadwick will lead the organization + a search for a permanent CEO is underway.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Warm Blessings Community Kitchen highlighted food insecurity in Hardin County as the global community marked World Hunger Day Wednesday. The program supports local families while raising awareness of hunger challenges in the region.  The News-Enterprise

CULTURE NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Garrison Commander Col. Dave Holstead visited the studio today to discuss upcoming events at Ft. Knox (the Army base) and outline plans that will involve the community in future activities (details will be shared soon).  Quicksie 98.3
  • Kentucky farmers are struggling with rising fertilizer costs that are causing higher grocery prices, and a bipartisan Homegrown Fertilizer Act is being considered in Congress to boost domestic production (grants and loans may support smaller fertilizer producers).  WLKY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents are invited to join the KBC blood drive at Baptist Health Hardin auditorium on Friday, June 5 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m to help maintain local blood supplies plus receive a special KBC 'United We Give' t-shirt and a voucher for Blue Bell ice cream while supplies last. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and meet other requirements.  Quicksie 98.3
