- ➤ At least 25 people died overnight when severe storms and tornadoes struck Kentucky and Missouri – Gov. Andy Beshear said over 700 workers were deployed to restore power and urged residents to check on neighbors – while meteorologists began surveying the damage. WKYU-FM
- ➤ Late Friday night, a deadly tornado hit London, leaving families without homes and turning familiar houses into piles of debris. Tina Carnes said her son’s frantic call and a safe hallway closet gave hope as the Red Cross opened a shelter at First Baptist Church on West Fifth Street — neighbors now work together to recover cherished keepsakes. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nelson County Emergency Management has partnered with Verizon to install a new communications tower that will improve cell and radio coverage in southern areas as severe weather continues to affect the region. The county allocated $750,000 for two more towers, plans to add seven tornado sirens, and will use the WeatherWarn system — a measure to speed up emergency responses. WLKY
