CRIME NEWS

  • Dakota Edwards, 20, from Leitchfield has been indicted on charges of first-degree rape, sodomy, sexual abuse and attempted rape after Leitchfield PD said he repeatedly assaulted sleeping women over 3—4 years and is held in Grayson County Detention Center on eight bonds totaling $4 million.  K105
  • The Elizabethtown Police Department said a text scam is using fear to trick parents by sending messages that either impersonate a child with a bogus phone number or claim a relative has been kidnapped—parents are urged to verify family contacts before calling any unknown numbers.  K105
  • Officer Chris Denham shared details about scams circulating in our community—residents are advised to remain cautious when contacted by unknown sources.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky high school students and the Kentucky Student Voice Team filed a lawsuit on May 16 claiming the state’s education system is unconstitutional due to widening funding gaps and declining academic performance following the 1989 Rose decision — lawyers argued over the students’ legal standing, and the court will review further briefs within a month.  WKYU-FM
