COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Girl Scouts held an awards ceremony in Elizabethtown to honor members for notable achievements — local community leaders and family members joined the event to support youth development.   • Yesterday, hundreds met at the Cyril Allgeier Community Center to oppose a $65M tennis complex planned for Joe Creason Park that would bring 36 tennis courts, 18 pickleball courts, a restaurant and sports medicine clinic. Residents worry about more traffic, less greenspace and increased noise—while a community meeting at St. Xavier High School Saturday at 8:30 a.m. will allow further discussion.  WLKY

CRIME NEWS

  • Jordan Henning, a former Fort Knox soldier, was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter after he shot his wife, Ashley, 37, at their Rineyville home in June 2023 while cleaning up after her birthday party—he tearfully apologized in court—resulting in his conviction.  WLKY
  • Jordan Henning of Rineyville received a 20-year sentence for first degree manslaughter after fatally shooting his wife five times following her birthday party — Hardin County Judge Larry Ashlock confirmed the jury’s recommendation on May 6.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Phillip Pike from East Hardin Middle School has been named the new Hardin County Schools Director of Pupil Personnel by school officials.  The News-Enterprise
  • Local college-bound students were awarded more than $370,000 in scholarships from local donors — 130 students received funds to help pay for tuition and college expenses.  The News-Enterprise
