- ➤ CASA of the Heartland will host the Light the Night Superhero 5K at Elizabethtown Sports Park on May 9 to honor local heroes and raise funds for vulnerable children in the community. - ➤ Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced new remote renewal options today that let drivers skip long lines at licensing offices by using online, in-office, or mail-in forms, and added staff along with updated technology to ease wait times. Customers needing REAL IDs or changes such as address or photo must visit an office—others can renew remotely as the state prepares for REAL ID enforcement on May 7. K105

- ➤ A new report found that overdose deaths in Kentucky dropped by 30.2% in 2024, marking the third straight year of decline with a 37.3% drop among Black residents. Fentanyl was present in 62.3% of cases while methamphetamine was involved in 50.8% of deaths. WKYU-FM
- ➤ Governor Andy Beshear said on Thursday that overdose deaths in 2024 fell by 30.2 percent, with 1,410 fatalities recorded—marking the third straight year of decline in Kentucky; he credited efforts like distributing over 170,000 doses of narcan and the operation of 84 syringe exchange sites, and he urged Kentuckians to seek available addiction help.
