- ➤ An Elizabethtown man was indicted for assaulting a victim with steel toe shoes — police said the assault caused severe injury. The News-Enterprise
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ballardsville Road was closed starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. for repairs of flood damage along the stretch from the KY 22/KY 53 intersection to near Radcliff — crews set up detours via KY 322 and other local roads with no set reopening date. WLKY
- ➤ Elizabethtown City Council met Monday afternoon as Planning and Development Director Joe Reverman updated the council on his office’s research to expand historic preservation by studying properties along College Street up to Poplar Street—this study will inform the Historic Preservation Commission’s recommendations. Project L.E.A.R.N President Ann Borders also briefed the council on the nonprofit’s growth and challenges supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. Quicksie 98.3
- ➤ Governor Beshear said on Monday that eight counties already have FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers open for those affected by April flooding and storms and that five more will open today. In Hardin County, residents can visit the center at Kentucky State Police Post Four at 954 Cameron Ponder Drive which is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Quicksie 98.3

- ➤ Kentucky health officials said a second measles case was confirmed in March when a nonresident child traveling through the state sought treatment — no additional exposures were found. Officials noted that kindergarten immunization rates have dropped to 86.9% this school year and urged parents to vaccinate their children with the two-dose MMR vaccine that is 97% effective.
