GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Beshear’s April 11 request for a Major Disaster Declaration covering 13 counties including Hardin County was approved by the White House, so residents and business owners who suffered flood damage may now apply for assistance (via disasterassistance.gov or by calling FEMA). Additional counties will be added after further assessments and Hardin County is coordinating with FEMA to open a local disaster recovery center.  Quicksie 98.3
  • The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office reported the state received $100,378,901 from the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement this year—bringing the total to $2.8 billion since 1998 from cigarette manufacturers. Half of the funds went to agricultural grants through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture while the rest was split between early childhood and health care programs.  K105
