- ➤ Elizabethtown recently approved a master plan to transform downtown with a redesigned square, new boardwalk along Valley Creek, and improved signage and speakers coming in months; a new city hall may be built within five years for an estimated $20 million to $30 million project. WLKY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At Broadbent Arena Monday night, the Kentucky Derby Festival hosted the Great Bed Races where Texas Roadhouse won the Champion Division and the Parks and Recreation department took the top Fun Division award (46 teams competed in a fun, physical sprint event). WLKY
- ➤ ECTC’s Toy Box Theatre will perform its final show, Seuss-A-Rama, today at 6:30 p.m. in the Science Auditorium. The production features college students and is open to all with tickets for $2 (free for children three and under). Quicksie 98.3
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ John Hardin High School will host a craft fair on Saturday to raise funds for Project Grad, offering a variety of goodies for upcoming graduates. The News-Enterprise
- ➤ A new report from the National Institute for Early Education Research found only 26% of Kentucky’s four-year-olds attended preschool in the 2024-25 school year (the national average was 37% and the state ranked 28th). Lawmakers are discussing proposals to expand early learning access amid funding challenges. WKYU-FM

- ➤ Central Kentucky Community Action Council permanently appointed Samantha Ross (Sam) to lead the Community Services/HEAP program, which oversees the Community Services Block Grant and LIHEAP energy assistance; applications remain open until May 22. Quicksie 98.3
