- ➤ Barton, a 10-year-old tri-color beagle, and Roscoe, a 5 ½-year-old White shepherd mix are available for adoption at Hardin County Animal Shelter in Elizabethtown, open Monday to Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. A rabies clinic will be held Saturday at 2855 Centennial Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—dogs must be leashed and cats kept in carriers. - ➤ Businesses along River Road are working hard to reopen after April's flooding as they prepare for Derby week. Captain's Quarters will open Monday, April 28 at 3 p.m. while Harrod's Creek Tavern and Cunningham's Creekside aim to resume operations this weekend and on May 2 respectively & they are restocking supplies and repairing equipment to be ready for the festivities. - ➤ The Elizabethtown Planning Commission voted to recommend that City Council not approve the zoning amendment for 707 Saint John Road after property owners requested changes for a 114-room hotel, commercial building and corporate housing unit amid concerns about public notice, neighborhood fit and site safety—commission members said there were too many issues with the proposal. They also voted to recommend zoning changes for Venue at Highland and a site on East Memorial Drive to allow for a barn conversion and an administrative office. Quicksie 98.3
- ➤ During the Hardin County Fiscal Court meeting on Tuesday, Judge/Executive Keith Taul presented his proposed 2025-2026 budget totaling $60,780,515 and noted challenges from inflation, a 1.8% rise in personnel costs, and higher department subsidies compared to tax revenues+ he mentioned that the balanced net operating budget of $23,646,154 is under review with a first ordinance reading set for May 13. - ➤ The Hardin County Fiscal Court met on Tuesday and approved an interlocal EMS agreement that will have Bullitt County Emergency Medical Services respond to West Point. Mayor Richard Ciresi said the deal will lower ambulance response times from 20—25 minutes to 5—7 minutes before the court reconvenes on May 13. Quicksie 98.3
- ➤ The U.S. Army Human Resources Command is hosting its tenth-annual SHARP 'Raise the Bars' Motorcycle Ride today at Fort Knox to raise sexual assault awareness and support survivors—Major General Hope Rampy will deliver opening remarks at 1 p.m. before riders depart at 1:30 for Silverleaf Sexual Trauma Recovery Services in Elizabethtown. Pre-registration is requested but day-of registration will be accepted until noon—ensuring all who wish to join the event can do so. Quicksie 98.3
