  • A student at North Hardin High School was detained after a weapon was found — police and school officials quickly ended the hard lockdown — and the student is expected to face criminal charges.  WLKY

  • Kentucky Shakespeare will perform Macbeth for free as part of its Spring Shakespeare in the Parks Tour — the play will be in Radcliff on April 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with a weather backup plan and in Elizabethtown at Freeman Lake Park on April 29 starting at 6:30 with festival-style seating and food vendors.  Quicksie 98.3

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky will become the center for Brood 14, the 17-year periodical cicadas set to emerge in central and eastern parts this spring. Entomologists say the insects will appear when soil warms to the mid-60s—when iris blooms begin, and while their noise may be loud, the cicadas do not harm trees or people.  K105
