BUSINESS NEWS

  • MOD City held its grand opening today in Elizabethtown — the new business opened its doors to local residents — offering a fresh option for dining and retail experiences.  The News-Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The U.S. Department of Education ended a spending extension for COVID relief funds and pulled $34 million from more than a dozen Kentucky school districts that planned long-term projects like building repairs and new construction. Officials say the move will hurt school projects—forcing districts to seek extra funding for renovations and new facilities.  WKYU-FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Beshear declared a state emergency as severe weather began rolling into Kentucky, warning that western Kentucky faces a high risk of tornadoes, hail, strong wind and flooding over the next four days—up to 15 inches of rain may fall in that region. Residents are urged to avoid driving through water to prevent further flooding accidents.  WKYU-FM
  • Crews began Tuesday night work on an 18-mile asphalt repair project on I-65 South between Munfordville and Sonora. Southbound traffic was reduced to one lane during overnight hours and repairs will continue in segments with crack seal work and an asphalt overlay until September 30 — drivers are urged to slow down in the work zone.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Downtown Elizabethtown's courthouse will soon undergo interior renovations to convert the former judicial center and government offices into a new use — the project will change the building’s role while maintaining its historic presence.  The News-Enterprise
