COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cub Scouts participated in the annual Pinewood Derby hosted by Scouting America’s Lincoln Trail District on March 28 at American Legion Post 113. Second grader Ethan Banks from Pack 721 in Bardstown won the championship while Tiger Scouts Peter Giardina + Alex Oberg tied for first place from Elizabethtown.  Quicksie 98.3
  • April is National Volunteer Month, a time to honor the invaluable contributions of volunteers in Elizabethtown. Local groups encourage residents to join service activities and build a stronger town.  The News-Enterprise
  • This week, Hardin County Animal Shelter features Bowie, a 10-year-old pittie mix, and TJ, a 1-year-old lab mix, as they seek Furever homes. The shelter will be closed on Good Friday, April 3 and will host a rabies clinic on April 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Quicksie 98.3

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A benefit ride will be held Saturday, April 18 in Hardin County to honor Billy Geary, who died March 21 in a motorcycle crash, with riders paying a fee ($15 per bike/vehicle or $5 for a poker run) while food and a silent auction are provided.  Quicksie 98.3

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices have risen over $1 nationwide, with Kentucky averages at $3.87, yet most locals still plan spring break travel — showing that fuel remains affordable for trip planning. State Rep. Wendy Dant Chesser said the governor may act as prices could increase in coming days.  WLKY
