COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Central Kentucky Community Foundation launched a survey to learn what local residents need for a possible YMCA—this effort will help guide planning for a facility that meets community demands.  The News-Enterprise
  • Baptist Health is donating over 1,000 books from its Stuff the Ambulance campaign to local groups — a move that supports literacy for those in need — as part of its community aid effort.  The News-Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hardin County Schools announced that the last day for kindergarten through twelfth grade students is set for Friday, May 23 to replace five lost days due to bad weather and finish the school year before Memorial Day. The board set graduation ceremonies—North Hardin on May 23 at 7 p.m. at Ray Story Stadium, Central Hardin on May 24 at 11 a.m. at Bruin Gym, John Hardin on May 24 at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium, and Hardin County High on May 17—to give seniors clear schedules.  Quicksie 98.3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Elizabethtown’s Planning Commission will consider a proposed residential—and commercial development off St. John Road near ByPass at a public hearing at 6 p.m. tonight. The discussion will help shape future planning decisions in the area.  The News-Enterprise
  • State officials from the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions and other leaders are hosting Scam Jam events across the state to teach residents how scammers use voice cloning and deep fakes — the event closest to our area will be held in Jeffersontown on June 5.  Quicksie 98.3

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new outpatient clinic for veterans will open in Elizabethtown to provide services for those eligible for care from the Robley Rex VA Medical Center — letting them stay close to home.  The News-Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kentucky Fish and Wildlife predicts a strong turkey hunting season after surveys found many young turkeys during winter research. The youth-only season will run on April 5 and 6 and the general season will run from April 12 through May 4—hunters must follow a two-bird limit each season.  Quicksie 98.3
