COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At Hardin County Chamber of Commerce’s March luncheon held Wednesday, local mayors honored longtime residents Barbara Proffitt (Mama) and Mike Bell (Brother) for their dedication as they received official proclamations and keys to the city.  Quicksie 98.3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky lawmakers approved Senate Bill 191, which sets up a pilot program to pay child care providers and low-income parents $2,000 if their children meet kindergarten readiness standards. Researchers from the University of Kentucky will design the program starting August to help expand affordable child care statewide.  WKYU-FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Mitch McConnell honored Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, a Glendale native who graduated from Central Hardin High School in 2017, on the Senate floor Thursday, Mar. 12. He died over the weekend after being injured in an attack in Saudi Arabia.  WLKY
  • Local officials are working on a plan to address homelessness as Hardin County continues to see a need for shelter for the unhoused & displaced.  The News-Enterprise

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two-time champion Kyle Troup, who lives in Mount Washington, stars in HBO's docuseries Born to Bowl, which premieres Monday, March 16 on HBO and HBO Max. He hopes the series highlights bowling centers (including Kingpin Lanes, J-Town Strike and Spare) and boosts interest in the sport.  WLKY
