COMMUNITY NEWS

  • CASA of the Heartland reported its services in Hardin County grew from assisting 120 children in 2022 to 185 last year while handling 312 cases from 983 petitions statewide; Michelle Kail gave the update to the City Council on Monday, noting 129 children remain on the waitlist.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Two dogs, Darla—a 26-pound shepherd mix—and Ody, a 5-year-old beagle mix weighing 40 pounds, are seeking Furever homes at Hardin County Animal Shelter on 220 Peterson Drive in E-town. Visitors can come Monday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. to meet them.  Quicksie 98.3

CULTURE NEWS

  • Construction is underway at Buffalo Lake for a new outdoor amphitheater that will host big-name concerts in Hardin County. The venue will expand the area's live music scene when it opens.  The News-Enterprise
  • Grayson County Historical Society will host a Heritage Day celebration on Saturday, June 20 on East Main Street in Leitchfield. The event will feature live demonstrations, a community quilt assembly, interactive exhibits, and food trucks to honor the nation’s 250th birthday and the society’s 50th anniversary (free admission).  K105

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Grace James Middle School girls' track team won the state title over the weekend by training in hallways and classrooms without a dedicated track. The team is now raising funds for new equipment in the coming weeks.  WLKY
