EDUCATION NEWS

  • Elizabethtown High School senior Rush Clagett earned state runner-up at the Poetry Out Loud Championship held this past weekend at the Farish Theater (Lexington). He credited the event with sparking a new interest in poetry ahead of his plans to attend the University of the Cumberlands.  Quicksie 98.3
  • The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled House Bill 9 unconstitutional because it would have allowed state funds for charter schools without voter approval & affected plans for two new schools. The decision means charter schools must secure a constitutional amendment before receiving state funding.  WLKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Elizabethtown Planning and Development department will host an open house meeting on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Central Avenue Baptist Church to gather input on the North Downtown Master Plan + guide future community improvements.  Quicksie 98.3
