COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Palooza distributed winter clothing + items to families on Friday at North Middle School in Radcliff. The donations included duffle bags and strollers filled with gear.  The News-Enterprise

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky high school juniors will take the SAT instead of the ACT this spring after the Education Department switched exams, and lawmakers may revisit the change in the legislative session starting Jan. 6 because they worry it may break past ACT trend lines + school performance comparisons.  WKYU-FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hardin County Government is helping residents reach their new year’s decluttering goal by offering secure disposal for sensitive documents. Residents can call the county office to learn how to use this service.  The News-Enterprise

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Hardin County Quick Response Team noted a surge in December overdoses and now offers free fentanyl testing strips to help residents with addiction (services are confidential and have no consequences). Director Justin Blair said referrals from EMS or law enforcement trigger quick responses to connect people to needed resources.  Quicksie 98.3
  • Governor Andy Beshear announced that the White House approved Kentucky’s Rural Health Transformation Plan, which will provide $212.9 million to boost rural health care. The funding will be used over five years to address chronic conditions + maternity care deserts, dental access gaps, and emergency services shortages.  Quicksie 98.3
